He said the outfitter is excellent, and guide "knew area well, everything (there) was brand new" and he was the only hunter in the lodge. It was "great É an outstanding hunt," Perrella said. He will return next year. Cost $5,000.
January/February 1998, Volume 24, Number 1 Featured hunt One hunting trip to Three Lakes Preserve in Wisconsin was not enough for Al Holland of Minnesota. An October '97 hunt marked the second time he hunted with owner Roger Devenport, taking his second white-tailed buck off the one-square-mile preserve. Throughout their hunt, Holland and his companions spotted numerous bucks in the 140-170 class, but Devenport encouraged him to wait for a "monster" that would score 190-200 points. One evening, just before dark, a big buck appeared and offered Holland's shot at 150 yards. The buck had 12 typical points and scored 196 points. Holland recommends the hunt for anyone looking for a great whitetail.
